Lesson Thirty Three – ‘ay’ as in tray
Revision: read ‘u-e’ as in flute words on pages 56 and 57.

Note to tutor:
1.Pointing to the caption under the tray say to your child (using letter names) ‘a’ (ay) and ‘y’, (wy) together say (using the sound) ‘ay’ as in tray.
2.Pointing to the word tray, sound it out, tr-ay, and then blend it into the word tray.
3.Ask your child to point to each word in the caption under the picture of the tray as he/she reads, ‘ay’ as in tray.
1. Write the colours of the tray and biscuits on the line. Check with the colour words for the correct spelling.

2. Read the colour word flash cards to your tutor.
3. Cut out the rectangles on page 59. You will end up with one big
rectangle and fourteen smaller rectangles.
4. You are going to make a booklet with the rectangles.
5. Put the big rectangle, with ‘ay’ written on it, on the bottom.
6. Put the small rectangles on top of the big rectangle, all lined up at
the left hand side.
7. Staple them altogether with a staple on the left end.
8. By turning the pages, one at a time, you will be able to read the ‘ay’
words.
The booklet will look like this.
9. Discuss the meaning of the words with your tutor.
10. Find the flashcard for ‘ay’ as in tray and put it with your other
