Look at the word cry. What happens when an s or a d is added to it?
Tutor: Give your child time to look and think, and see if he/she can vocalise what is happening.
cry cries cried
Did you work out what is happening? If you did you are a very clever cookie!!!
This is the rule: The y changes to ie.
You could say the y as in sky changes to ie as in pie.
Add an s and a d to the following words. (Just like cry, cries, cried)
try tr tr .
fry fr fr .

spy sp sp .
Read the words to your tutor and discuss the meaning of each one.
