Lesson Thirteen: Challenge number thirteen:
Can you remember how to spell the words from Lesson Twelve?
1. Ask your tutor to call out the words you revised in Lesson 12,
plus any difficult words you have in your special container.
2. Check your progress. Tick the words you have spelt correctly
and put a cross next to the words you still need to learn.
3. Write the words you still need to learn on separate pieces of
paper and put them in the special container. When you have a
few moments look at these words and learn how to spell them.
Your tutor will test them again later.
4. Take out of the special container any words which were tested
and you got correct. Give yourself a pat on the back for every word you
were able to take out.!! Great work.

The word because is a difficult word to spell but because it is often used when you write you need to know how to spell it correctly.
A good way to remember how to spell it is to put it to a rhythm.
o Clap the rhythm as you spell the word.
eg b-e-c au se ( clap, clap, clap, rest clap/clap, clap, clap)
the rhythm is ( walk, walk, walk, rest run/run, walk, walk)
( b e c a u s e )
o Spell the word because over and over to the tune of “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”.
Choose one of these ideas and practise until you know how to spell this difficult word.
